Job Description
Purpose of the Position: The Teacher is primarily responsible for providing a classroom environment in which students have the opportunity to experience personal growth in the academic, relational, and spiritual aspects of their lives. This person is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program specific to his or her course(s) that will result in students achieving this growth in accordance with the mission and vision of Westside Christian High School.
The successful candidate will be able to:
• Teach a wide variety of art classes, including Introduction to Art, Studio Art, Ceramics & Sculpture, and Advanced Placement Studio Art.
• Demonstrate knowledge, competency and teaching ability in the content of art, including esthetics, art history, art criticism, and studio performance.
• Plan lessons and present studio experiences in drawing, painting, mixed media, printmaking, clay, paper mache, metals, other three-dimensional media, casting, modeling and constructing.
• Use elements and principles of design to create and discuss effective artworks.
• Relate visual perception to the aesthetic experience.
• Relate artistic ideas and works with societal, cultural and historical context to deepen understanding.
• Apply criteria to evaluate artwork.

Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience.
- Demonstration of experience with positive relationships with high-school aged students.
- An evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the school’s mission, including signed
agreement with WCHS Statement of Faith.
At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience is preferred.
Bachelor degree preferred.
